Saturday mornings are about to get good again.

The Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market reopens Saturday, October 3, 2026 after its summer break, and this season it's at a new location — the City Hall parking lot, on Brown Avenue between 1st and 2nd Street.

If you've been going for years and were about to drive to the old Brown Avenue spot: it's a short walk from where you're used to, but the entrance is different. Worth knowing before you show up with a wagon.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., October through April
May: 8 a.m. to noon
June: 7 to 10 a.m.
Closed: July through September
Where: City Hall parking lot, Brown Ave between 1st and 2nd St, Old Town Scottsdale 85251
Parking: the Drinkwater garage is a few blocks away and free

It's a food and farming market — over 100 vendors at peak season. Arizona growers, natural pork and beef, free-range eggs, artisan cheese, bread, tamales, jams. Not a craft market.

Go early

I learned this the hard way. By 10:30 on a nice October Saturday the good produce is picked over and the line at the strawberry lemonade stand is long enough that you'll question your commitment.

Nic and I go around 8:15, walk Wally through, get coffee after. Done by 9:30 and the rest of the Saturday is still yours.

Why this market matters more than it sounds like it should

This is one of those things that makes Old Town feel like a neighborhood instead of an entertainment district.

Same vendors every week. You start recognizing people. The guy who sells the eggs remembers you. It's a small thing, but when we first moved here four years ago and didn't know anyone, Saturday mornings at this market were the first thing that made Scottsdale feel like ours instead of somewhere we'd landed.

If you're new here, or thinking about moving here, this is the single best way to spend your first Saturday.

While you're down there

The market runs until 1, and Old Town is right there. Walk over to the Arts District, grab lunch, look at the mid-century houses on the side streets south of Indian School. It's my favorite pocket of the city and the walkable parts of it are the reason.

Full disclosure: this is also the single best argument I have for buying in 85251 or 85257. Being able to walk to this on a Saturday morning is a real quality-of-life thing, and homes in that part of Scottsdale start around $615,000 — the most attainable entry into the city.
